Mother: Trayvon Martin cried for help on 911 call

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) ? The mother and brother of Trayvon Martin testified Friday that screams for help captured on audio of a 911 call came from the 17-year-old.

Sybrina Fulton and Jahvaris Fulton took the witness stand during the trial of George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch volunteer charged with second-degree murder in Martin's shooting death. Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and says he shot the teen in self-defense during a fight.

After the audio was played, prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda asked Sybrina Fulton, "Who do you recognize that to be?" She replied, "Trayvon Benjamin Martin."

Identifying the screams on the 911 call could be critical to the case because it may help determine who was the aggressor during the scuffle between Zimmerman and Martin.

Under cross-examination, defense attorney Mark O'Mara suggested that Sybrina Fulton may have been influenced by others who listened to the 911 call, including relatives and her former husband.

O'Mara also asked Fulton hypothetically whether she would have to accept it was Zimmerman yelling for help if the screams did not come from her son. He also asked if she hoped Martin didn't do anything that led to his death.

"I heard my son screaming," Fulton said. "I would hope for this to never have happened and he would still be here."

Jahvaris Fulton, Martin's brother, also testified the screaming voice was that of Martin.

But O'Mara asked him why last year he had told a reporter that he wasn't sure if the voice belonged to Martin. Jahvaris Fulton, in explaining his comment to the reporter, told O'Mara he was "shocked" when he heard it.

"I didn't want to believe it was him," Jahvaris Fulton said.

O'Mara asked to play the television interview for jurors, but Judge Debra Nelson denied his request for the time being.

Jahvaris Fulton's testimony was broken up by efforts to unlock the evidence room adjacent to the courtroom. Unable to open it, court officials called a locksmith with a drill to help them out.

Before testifying, Sybrina Fulton posted on Twitter "I pray that God gives me the strength to properly represent my Angel Trayvon."

Google Maps Street View Now Lets You Explore Thomas Jefferson's Digs

Nobody wants to spend their vacation day studying history, but if you're feeling particularly patriotic tomorrow, you can head on over to Google Maps where Thomas Jefferson's Monticello residence is now available to explore using Google Street View.

You can virtually wander around outside the property on its sprawling greens, or head indoors and explore everything from the main hall which doubled as a miniature museum, the dining room where he would have entertained other notable American figures, and his personal study which includes all of Jefferson's cutting-edge (at the time) gadgets. Best of all, you can do it all from the comfort of your hammock, lawn chair, or half-filled kiddie pool. [Google Maps Blog via Engadget]

EE 'double speed' LTE officially launches July 4

EE SIM

Sharing plans to launch July 17, MasterCard-based mobile payments system on the way too

Mobile network EE, currently the only operator to offer 4G LTE services in the UK, has announced that its new "double speed" LTE services will officially launch starting tomorrow, July 4. Initially the new, faster service, which promises "headline" speeds of up to 80Mbps, will be available in some 12 towns and cities including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield. (We've already seen speeds of between 50 and 80Mbps in London and Manchester as EE has been testing the new service.)

In addition, EE has today announced that its shared 4G price plans will become available from July 17, as will its new Pay-As-You-Go 4G mobile broadband plans. The shared plans can give users unlimited calls and texts, and a central pool of up to 20GB to share between devices, TheNextWeb reports. But the new shared plans won't come cheap — the 20GB option is set to cost £112 per month.

iTranslate Voice takes another step towards Star Trek with AirTranslate!

iTranslate Voice updates with device-to-device translation, new languages

iTranslate Voice has been updated to version 2.0, bringing new features, such as the ability to use multiple devices for conversations, and imporvements, including support for new languages and a refreshed interface.

The biggest addition is that of AirTranslate, which allows for two devices to link together to make conversing across languages even easier. Rather than having two people speak into the same device, AirTranslate lets each person use their own device, sending your words to them, and theirs to you. To activate AirTranslate, as well as access other settings, swipe up on the new hamburger menu at the bottom of the screen. At the bottom of the settings panel, tap the AirTranslate button, and wait to be connected to the other user after they have done the same.

Eight new languages are supported in this release. Thai, Catalan, and Romanian each have full voice recognition and text-to-speech support, while Hebrew, Croatian, Malay, Ukrainian and Vietnamese have voice recognition, but not text-to-speech just yet. There is also a new presidential voice pack that reads text in the voice of former President Bush, President Obama, and Mitt Romney.

The update is available now on the App Store, while new users can grab iTranslate Voice for $0.99.
